The MU was delighted to attend the Music and Drama Education Expo on 23-24 February at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. MU officials welcomed new members into membership at our stand, met and spoke to many existing members, and presented a well-received session on employment law.

The Expo coincided with the launch of the MU’s new template contracts for music teachers, free for members. We were also able to highlight our many other resources and services for teaching members, including our free guide to employment status for instrumental and vocal teachers.

Linked to the Expo are the Music and Drama Education Awards. The MU sponsors the Francesca Hanley Inspiration Award in memory of our much missed colleague. This year the award was given to Rebecca Beavis, a music teacher and creative arts director at a multi-academy trust.

The Music and Drama Education Expo is free to attend, and the MU will be there again on 23-24 February 2024. The Expo is a buzzing showcase of the latest resources and industry initiatives in music education, combined with a substantial programme of free CPD sessions.
