Open Meeting on Sexual Harassment in the Music Industry

15 Aug 2018

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Musicians’ Union (MU) is opening a discussion following on from the #MeToo movement – with the aim of understanding how the MU can offer further support and be a catalyst for change.

The #MeToo movement brought sexual harassment in the creative industries to public notice – with people working in the arts, culture, media and entertainment sectors speaking out about sexual harassment, sexism, exploitation and abuse in the workplace.

We will be discussing the kind of action that is required to protect musicians at work – be that as employed members of staff or freelancers – and looking at the measures that can be taken to improve workplaces across the industry.

The meeting will be hosted by MU officials, who will treat all stories shared in the strictest confidence. These events are an information gathering exercise, as well as an opportunity for peer-to-peer support across the music industry.
