The MU has also developed an online Child Protection in Education training course, which you can sign-up for and access on Educare's website.

A child protection awareness seminar for MU members who teach music to children and young people.

In this essential training for teachers, you will learn to be aware of – and act on – concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people. The seminar will also go over legislation, duties, responsibilities and good practice in all issues to do with safeguarding.

The seminar will cover:

  • Background about the legislative framework within which children’s welfare is safeguarded and promoted
  • What to do with concerns about children in order to safeguard and promote their welfare, including those who are suffering, or at risk of suffering, significant harm
  • What happens after reporting concerns
  • Safe working practices in music teaching

This seminar is free to attend and for MU members only. Spaces are limited so advance booking is essential.
