Explore the legal and business obligations of working on a freelance basis alongside other creatives. In this interactive workshop, you will learn useful tips and practical tools to help you with the practical side of working as a freelancer or sole trader.

By the end of the workshop you should be able to:

  • Identify the different types of business models
  • Compare the key legal obligations of different types of freelancers i.e. between individual responsibility for paying Tax and N.I. and an employers' responsibility
  • Examine relevant fees and expenses to negotiate with potential employers
  • Demonstrate how to calculate tax and national insurance payments
  • Analyse what expenses you can include in your tax returns
  • Identify practical financial business templates – e.g. invoices, income and expenditure spreadsheets

This workshop is aimed at anyone who would like to explore the practicalities of setting up as a freelancer / sole trader and improve their practical business skills.
