Free Legal Seminar ‘Music as a Brand’

12 Sep 2019

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This ‘Music as a Brand’ seminar will address the steps that recording artists can take to protect their performing name or band name.

The session, run by Harper Macleod LLP, will address registration of names, simple checks musicians can make to avoid using someone else’s name, and what to do if another musician starts to use a name. We will look at key cases and disputes surrounding band names and use these to highlight how risks can be avoided.

Jamie Watt, who leads the firm's intellectual property and technology department, will be speaking at the seminar. His expertise includes trademarks and brand management, patent law, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, blockchain & financial technologies, software, mobile communications and the internet, and sport, music, entertainment and publishing.

The session will also be addressed by Jennifer Murphy, who specialises in intellectual property and technology related matters with a particular focus on brand rights, IP strategy, and general commercial matters, including commercial contracts.
