Delight at Rome Opera outcome: musicians reinstated

Last night Loris Grossi, trombonist at Rome Opera Theatre (ROT) and FIM member, announced that the 182 members of ROT who were sacked on the 2nd October 2014, have been reinstated.

Last night Loris Grossi, trombonist at Rome Opera Theatre (ROT) and FIM member, announced that the 182 members of ROT who were sacked on the 2nd October 2014 have been reinstated.

He said, 'My deep gratitude goes to the multitude of fellow musicians from all over the world who, in raising their voices, contributed to make this success possible.'

The MU recognises the hard work that went into this campaign by colleagues around the world.  In particular the MU would like to thank the Stewards and members of the 16 British orchestras that showed their support by signing petition letters that were sent to the Italian government and the board of ROT.

MU National Organiser Bill Kerr says, 'I am delighted by the outcome at the ROT.  The news brings hope to us all and demonstrates the positive effect of solidarity and support.'
