Join the TUC National Rally and March in Manchester

Join the MU and our samba band in the TUC march, "Yes to workers rights, No to austerity", Sunday 4 October in Manchester

The MU is supporting the TUC march to say "Yes to workers rights, No to austerity" on Sunday 4 October in Manchester.

As well as marching we have decided to quite literally "bang the drum" - with the help of Manchester School of Samba, we’ll have a loud percussive presence!

This march is particularly important as it coincides with the Conservative Party Conference and their attempt to pass the Trades Union Bill, which could have a devastating impact on your rights as a worker, your ability to strike, and on how the Musicians’ Union can operate.

You don’t have to play percussion – just come along and march.

But if you do want to bang a drum, you can also attend a free session beforehand to learn some of the patterns. You don’t need any prior experience - absolute beginners are welcome, and instruments will be provided both for the practice and march.

So that we get an idea of numbers and can provide you with full details of the march (and practice if applicable) please email Hannah Senior or call the North of England Office on 0161 236 1764.

The march will assemble from 12 noon at All Saints Park on Oxford Road and will move off around 1.30 pm.

Please join with other members and make a big noise about something that affects us all.
