Scottish Jazz Awards + Scottish Album of the Year Award

The MU were proud to sponsor the Rising Star Award at the Scottish Jazz Awards, which took place on Sunday 29th June and closed the Glasgow Jazz Festival, and is now the city’s longest running music event.  Amongst many notable winners, this year’s ‘Rising Star’ accolade was presented to Edinburgh based pianist Fraser Urqhart.

Meanwhile, the Annual SAY Award (Scottish Album of the Year) took place once again this year in Paisley Town Hall on Wednesday 28th June.  The prestigious annual arts prize, which is produced by the Scottish Music Industry Association, boasts a lucrative £20,000 prize for the winner.  Despite formidable competition from the likes of RM Hubbart, C Duncan and Honeyblood, this year’s award went to Sacred Paws.
