May Day Marches throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland

The Musicians’ Union (MU) encourages Scottish and Northern Irish members to join the May Day marches which will be taking place in Dundee, Belfast, Edinburgh, Irvine and Glasgow.

Trade unionists and the Labour movement will come together to celebrate efforts to improve workers' rights at the May Day marches, which will take place throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland.

There will be May Day marches at the following times and locations:


Saturday 28th April, 12:30 pm
Organised by Dundee Trades Union Council

Assemble: Cowgate Underpass, 12:30 pm
March Off: 1:00 pm
Rally: Burns Statue in Albert Square, 1:30 pm


Saturday 5th May, 12:00 pm
Organised by Irish Congress of Trade Unions

Assemble: Art College Gardens
March Off: 12:00 pm


Saturday 5th May, 11:30 am
Organised by Edinburgh & Lothians May Day Committee

Assemble: Johnston Terrace (top end), 11:30 am
March Off: 12:00 pm
Rally: The Pleasance


Saturday 5th May, 12:00 pm
Organised by Irvine and North Ayrshire Trades Union Council

Assemble: Vineburgh Community Centre, Quarry Road, 12:00 pm
Rally: 1:00 pm. There will be stalls, entertainment and speakers – including Ian Tasker, Scottish Hazards Campaign and Sofiah MacLeod, Palestine Solidarity Campaign


Sunday 6th May, 11:00 am
Organised by Glasgow Trades Union Council

Assemble: George's Square, 11:00 am
March Off: 11:30 am
Rally: Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. There will be speeches from Jane McAlevey and Stewart McDonald MP.
