UK Music has launched its 2018 Measuring Music survey. Your input can help assess the current health of the UK’s music industry, and lobby for its future.

Measuring Music gathers information annually from those working in the music business, in order to analyse trends and document day-to-day conditions.

The survey is run by UK Music – the umbrella body representing various sectors of the industry, including musicians via the Musicians’ Union.

Thanks to input from musicians, and others working in the music business, Measuring Music builds the vital statistics needed to negotiate the best policies for the future of the music industry.

Take the survey

There are three different surveys, depending on the role that you play.

If you are a musician, songwriter or composer, please take this survey.

If you are a music producer or engineer, please take this survey.

If you are a manager, please take this survey.

Why it matters

The information gathered in 2018 will, amongst other things, be used to:

  • Shape industrial strategies for the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union
  • Assist in the fight to preserve the country’s cherished small venues and keep UK grassroots music thriving
  • Protect the value of copyright and intellectual property
  • Recognise and acknowledge the value of what musicians, and those working in the music industry, bring to the UK Economy.
