Concerned About the Upcoming Data Protection Changes?

We are aware that Musicians’ Union (MU) members may be concerned about the effects of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which will come into force on 25 May 2018.

GDPR will change the way that organisations are allowed to collect, hold and share information about individuals, amongst other things. It will be enforced across all EU member states, and affects business of every size.

The MU is currently producing a guide to the regulations, specifically advising musicians who teach. It will be available in the near future, so please watch this space for updates.

The TUC ran a webinar with advice on preparing for GDPR, which will streamed on 21 March 2018.

If you missed it, you can still watch the recording on youtube, watch a replay on crowdcast, or download the presentation slides as a PDF.

For more information on the regulations, there is an online guide to GDPR on the Information Commissioner Office’s website.
