The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) will be holding its fifth congress event on 6-7 November in Sheffield, giving artists the opportunity to hear about developments and challenges within the festival sector as it prepares for the 2019 season.

The eclectic agenda includes presentations such as the ‘Instagrammable Festival’ and the ‘Digital Marketing Data Treasure Chest’, as well as discussions around the strangest and most challenging things that organisers have found themselves doing to deliver their shows.

The AIF will also launch a ten-year report at the congress, which will document key trends and examine how the sector has changed over this time.

The Independent Festival Awards are another highlight of the event.

MU members are invited to take advantage of a 10% discount on 2-day Conference and Awards tickets – you can find the discount code on our member discount page.

The MU will be encouraging festival organisers at Congress to sign up to the MU/ISM Code of Practice to help eradicate bullying, harassment and discrimination in the music sector.

The MU and the AIF previously launched the ‘Fair Play for Festivals’ agreement to allow emerging artists playing at AIF-member festivals to be protected by minimum terms, and to help bookers and performers understand what is required before and during an artist’s performance.
