Music Licensing Organisation PPL Announces Largest Ever Annual International Collection

PPL has announced that their international collection has grown over 40 per cent from 2017 to 2018. The Musicians’ Union welcomes this announcement as excellent news for their members.

The total international collection for 2018 has been £70.9 million, this represents a growth of 43 per cent on the total achieved in 2017 (£49.6 million).

The growth in 2018 follows impressive and sustained longer-term growth for PPL’s international collections business – from fully launching its service in 2006, when it collected £6 million, PPL has now collected a total of £429.1 million of International monies.

National Organiser for Recording & Broadcasting, Phil Kear, responded to the news:

“The MU welcomes such an impressive set of results from PPL’s international team.

"It is excellent news for our members, many of whom have received marked increases in PPL income during the last year as a direct result of this work. I would very much like to join them in thanking PPL for their efforts.”
