Call for Midlands Musicians Interested in Playing at Trades Union Events

Musicians in the Midlands interested in playing at Trades Union events should contact their regional office. All events to be paid at recommended MU live rates.

Following a Musicians' Union (MU) motion passed at the Trades Union Congress (TUC) regional conference 2017, it is Midlands TUC policy to pay recommended MU rates for live acts performing at Trades Union events.

The MU Midlands office is now updating its list of suitable acts, which can be passed on when musicians are required by the TUC.

Building the list

We are asking MU members who are interested in playing such gigs as the Chainmakers Festival, May Day events and anti-racist gigs, if they would be keen on being placed on a list to be held by the MU Midlands Regional Office.

In this way, when a request for musicians comes in from the Trades Union movement, we can pass on appropriate contact details.

How to take part

All we need at this stage is for you to confirm you are interested in being on such a list – along with your preferred contact details, and a statement of no more than 150 words about your live act and why you think unions are important.

This applies to both solo acts and bands. Website and audio links within the statement are acceptable. The list will be subject to review every six months.

Please email your details and accompanying information to Midlands Regional Organiser, Stephen Brown stephen.brown@theMU.org
