Discounted Places Available for Musicians’ Union Members on Guildhall Short Courses

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama (GSMD) is offering Musicians’ Union (MU) members a 10% discount on their short courses ‘Creative Music Training: Working with Young People’ and ‘Body Mapping’.

Both courses will be running at the Guildhall School in London, applicants must be over the age of 18.

Creative Music Training: Working with Young People

Saturday 20 - Sunday 21 July

This weekend training course will explore the wide range of skills and approaches needed to lead creative musical activities with children and young people, within or outside of mainstream education.

The course will cover various topics including processes for composition, how to cater for different ability levels, improvisation and more.

Taught by expert Guildhall teachers and industry-leading guest tutors, Creative Music Training is particularly suitable for musicians, music leaders and students in higher education.

Body Mapping

Saturday 6 April – Sunday 7 April

This course focused on body mapping, the conscious correcting of one’s own personal body map to produce efficient and effective movement.

Participants learnt how to experience and understand the sensations of movement in playing an instrument. This course was aimed at teachers and performers of any instrument or voice who would like to develop their own technique and practice.

It integrated Alexander Technique, Body Mapping and Feldenkrais, all of which help you increase your kinesthetic self-awareness.

It was led by Sarah Newbold BA(Hons), ARCM, LRAM, Licensed Andover Educator, SFHEA and Philippa Davies BMus (Hons), ARCM.

Places will be available on a first come first served basis, members interested in registering for either course using the discount should first get in contact with the MU London Regional office by emailing london@theMU.org
