This public symposium aims to bring together researchers, policy makers, heritage and creative workers and musicians. It will be held at the Birmingham Centre for Media and Cultural Research, 13-14 September 2019.

Call for papers

The symposium organisers welcome contributions from fans and heritage consumers in response to their experience of the Home of Metal exhibitions and events.

Proposals of no more than 300 words should be forwarded to paul.long@bcu.ac.uk by 31 March 2019 accompanied by a short biography and contact details.

Call for workshop participants

Anyone interested in attending the Home of Metal exhibitions and events in June-September 2019 is invited to participate in a workshop on the theme of home, metal and heritage. We will develop skills of evaluation, debate and presentation concerned with popular music heritage.

The workshop is free to attend with refreshments available. Free entry to the Home of Metal exhibition is provided as part of the workshop. Participants will be expected to contribute to the workshops output, potentially in the form of a fanzine, interview or podcast.

To register for a workshop place, or for more information contact paul.long@bcu.ac.uk or asya.draganova@bcu.ac.uk
