Vital Performing Arts Venue Funding Announced for Scotland

A £10 million fund to support Scotland’s performing arts venues has been announced by Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop.

The fund will offer vital support to Scotland’s music industry, our Regional Organiser for Scotland & Northern Ireland, Caroline Sewell greeted the excellent news:

“This dedicated fund will come as a welcome relief for Scotland’s performing arts venues which are the very heart of our music industry and so valuable to our lives, our communities, our industry and our economy.

“This is a significant injection of support which demonstrates the Government’s commitment to culture. We look forward to continuing to work with the Scottish Government in the coming weeks to discuss further crucial support for individuals and the wider creative industry.”

This announcment is great news for venues in Scotland, but we must keep the pressure up for the Government to provide vital financial support to the music industry across the UK.

Ask your MP to support a sector specific financial support package to protect our vital cultural assets – and the musicians who work in them.
