Membership Services Assistant (Maternity Cover up to 12 months), Birmingham

About the MU

The Musicians' Union (MU) represents 32,000 musicians across the UK working in all sectors of the music business.

As well as negotiating on behalf of our members with all the major employers in the industry, we offer a range of support services for professional and student musicians of all ages and backgrounds.

Key to our operations are our regional offices, including the Midlands, based in Birmingham, where we have a vacancy for a Membership Services Assistant as maternity cover commencing December 2020.

About the role

As a Membership Services Assistant working closely with the Membership Services team across the UK and the staff in the Regional Office, you will play a full and vital role in delivering services to MU members by assuming responsibility for membership and regional office administration.

You will be the first point of contact for members and non-members in relation to their membership, working to achieve objectives within the MU’s recruitment and retention strategy.  You’ll communicate regularly with members to advise them on matters relating to their membership, as well as providing general administrative support to the Regional Office.

You will have excellent member service and communication skills, have good attention to detail, and experience of processes and procedures within a membership services organisation or trade union. You will need to be able to use your initiative and prioritise your workload.  Knowledge of the music industry would be an advantage, as will an understanding of and commitment to the values of the trade union movement.

We are offering a salary of £35,075 pro rata, as well as a contribution towards a personal pension scheme. The annual leave entitlement for this post is 30 days, pro rata, excluding public holidays.
