Most musicians will be involved in music writing to some extent during their career, from writing for themselves or other artists, to composing for film and television, through to teachers arranging works for use by their students. In this section you will find information about important aspects of music writing, such as copyright and royalties. It also highlights some of the resources the MU can provide to help your career such as standard contracts and appropriate rates of pay.

The MU is there to protect people's rights and to make sure they're compensated fairly.
