MU Pension Scheme (MUPS)

On this page you will find information about:

  • MU Pension Scheme (MUPS)
  • How to open a pension
  • MUPS Governance Committee

The MU Pension Scheme has been running successfully in its current format for many years, providing a way for members to make and receive pension contributions.

There are now over 600 members of the scheme, and funds held within the scheme have reached more than £13m, with annual contributions exceeding £1m a year.

Hencilla Canworth administers the MU Pension Scheme. You can take advantage of this scheme and open a pension today. If you are interested please visit Hencilla or call 0208 686 5050 to speak to Andrew Barker.

If you work for any of the employers (and there is a negotiated employers contribution within the agreement) below then you can also receive an employer’s contribution.  Find out more, including about Auto Enrolment, via Hencilla.

Please note that whilst you are eligible to join the scheme, unless there is a negotiated employer’s contribution within the collective bargaining agreement for employees, do not assume that you will receive an employer’s contribution. This applies if you are working as an extra or deputy, for example.  If you are unsure as to whether you are eligible for an employer’s contribution or not, contact your MU Regional Office or Hencilla Canworth.

The pension scheme is overseen by a Governance Committee to ensure it is run in the best way for members, in particular to ensure its security for current members, and to assure new members that it is well run and will provide good outcomes at retirement.

The committee meets twice a year at the MU’s HQ in London. If you are interested in finding out more about sitting on the committee, please email david.ashley@theMU.org
